Myth : one should know English well to learn a foreign language

Fact : anyone can learn a foreign language! For that matter anyone can learn anything at any age, if you have the right attitude and correct guidelines

FAQ 1: Why should we teach a foreign language to our kids?

Answer : Learning a language opens up doors to other cultures, you get exposed to global lifestyle which broadens your lookout towards global issues and otherwise too.

Professionally, in today's super competitive world of globalisation, where world has come closer knowledge of foreign language can help you boost your career(it can be any field).

Well, having said that ... the world has come closer, but the global issues have risen and while finding solutions to such global issues may it be human rights or world peace if more and more people understand each other better, it will create more harmony.

Remember when you speak with someone in 'a language', he or she may or may not speak back to you , even if you speak you have a conversation, no doubt! But when you speak to someone in "their language" in" their mother tongue" you reach their heart …

FAQ 2: Which is the best language to start your language learning journey?

Answer : Journey is best started with mother tongue, then you add the neighbour's and friend's tongue, regional language, national language and then start learning a foreign language. This will help you understand various cultures and maker you more mature to deal with foreign languages.

FAQ 3: What is the appropriate age to start?

Answer : These days people start as early as 2 and 3... however I'm old school. And I would suggest go in the above mentioned order, then your kids will learn to respect all the languages... otherwise the scenario you see today is, today's generation is not exposed to their own mother tongue, they feel shy to speak in their mother tongue and it is the parents to blame in such cases... at young age kids are forced to speak English rather than focusing on mother tongue and this happens only in India... almost all the countries around the world emphasise on mother tongue learning and then other languages are introduced. So wound suggest to go by the above mentioned order.

FAQ 4: How should a parent go about this? Useful resources to get one started (special resources for kids)

Answer : Instead of immediately enrolling your child for another class or tuition... go online and check out fantastic videos available for learning foreign language which are free of cost. There are apps like Duolingo and Memrise which make learning languages more fun.

परदेशी भाषा किंवा परकीय भाषा … परकीय म्हणून आपण त्याला परक करून टाकतो … आणि foreign language हा शब्दच इंग्रजीत म्हणजे इंग्रजी आलीच नाही तर परदेशी भाषा शिकुच शकणार नाही की काय अशी एक शंका मनातउत्पन्न होते. ह्या लेखा द्वारे अशाच काही शंका आणि तुमच्या मनात दडलेल्या प्रश्नांची उत्तरं देण्याचा एक छोटासा प्रयत्न.

YouTube किंवा Duolingo सारख्याapps websites द्वारे भाषेची तोंड ओळख करून घेणे अधिक महत्त्वाचे असते . मग भाषेतली गाणी ऐकणे , cartoons बघणे subtitles वाचत का होईना , पण भाषेचा आस्वाद घेणे गरजेचे आहे . मग तुम्हाला खरच ती भाषा आवडली , गमतीशीर वाटली तर go ahead !

भाषा जर मोठ्या वयात म्हणजे दहावी आटपून कॉलेज आटपून करिअर च्या दृष्टीने विचार करत असाल तर आपलेस्वतःचे शिक्षण काय व कोणते आहे , जी भाषा आपण शिकू इच्छितो त्या देशाची आर्थिक व्यवस्था किंवा आपल्या देशाबरोबरचे संबंध कसे आहेत हे जाणून घेणे , बिझनेस opportunities कोणत्या आहेत , नोकऱ्या कोणत्या क्षेत्रात आहेत, ह्याचा जरा अभ्यास करून मग भाषेची निवड करावी .

उदा. इंजिनियरिंग शिकत असलेल्या मुलीने समजा कोरियन इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स कंपनी मध्ये translators ची गरज असते का? त्यासाठी नेमके कोणते skills अवगत करणे गरजेचे आहे , ह्या बारीक बारीक गोष्टी लक्षात घेतल्या तर भाषेची निवडकरणे सोप्पे जाऊ शकते . तर इंजिनिअरिंग आणि भाषा दोन्हींचे फायदे करून घेता येऊ शकते .

किंवा परदेशात जाऊन आपल्या भाषा शिकवणे

उदा . जर्मनी ला जाऊन संस्कृत शिकवणे किंवा जपानी लोकांना हिंदी शिकवणे इत्यादी, अशीही तऱ्हेतऱ्हच्या दालनान कडे लक्ष देणे आवश्यक आहे.

सद्ध्या भरपूर जपानी कार्टून्स आणि कोरियन movies, गाणी, series पॉप्युलर होत चालल्या आहेत . ह्याचेtranslations करण्यासाठी सुद्धा translators लागत असतात .

भाषा शिकून तुम्ही बऱ्याच गोष्टी करू शकता .
